90 Minutes in Heaven
October 18, 2007 by Sarah Austin
I must admit that when my mother recommended Don Piper’s 90 Minutes in Heaven, I was skeptical. A guy dies, goes to heaven, and comes back to life to tell about it? Right.
In fact, I really had no intention of reading the book until 1) I found a copy to borrow (or rather, it found me) and 2) I found myself without anything to read. I had no excuse to not read it. Funny how that works sometimes.
The title sums up the book’s plot, but there’s a bit more to it than a dead guy spending 90 minutes in heaven. The author—Piper—dies in a car accident. The paramedics announce him dead at the scene and simply have to wait for a judge to come and make it official. While the accident clean up continues, a pastor who is stuck in the traffic behind the accident, walks to the scene and starts a conversation with a cop. He feels the Holy Spirit prompting him to pray for the dead guy (at the time, the pastor didn’t know the dead guy was also a pastor and that they had both been traveling home from the same pastors conference). The pastor crawls into the back hatch of the dead guy’s car, puts his hand on his shoulder, and starts praying for him.
Meanwhile, the dead guy is in heaven. He’s welcomed by all the Christians in his life that had gone before him. He sees the pearly gates, he sees the streets paved with gold, and he sees the city of heaven. In heaven, there is music we’ve never heard and colors we’ve never seen on earth. Just as he is getting used to the idea of heaven, Piper finds himself back in his car. He had been dead 90 minutes.
The pastor who had prayed Piper back to life had prayed specifically that Piper would have no head or internal injuries, and he didn’t. In spite of that miracle, the injuries to Piper’s leg and arms were horrific. Piper spends the rest of the book detailing his recovery with the Ilizarov device and how that device and his experience in heaven have allowed him to minister to others in similar situations.
I was a skeptic when I picked up this book, but somehow I know Piper’s experience in heaven is true. His description of that place is just how I would’ve imagined it, and beyond my own imagination, his description makes sense to me. While some have been changed from hearing how Piper recovered, his heavenly experience has changed how I come to worship. Heaven is a real place to me now—almost something tangible. And as I imagine singing with other saints before the Lord’s throne, I am excited for that day.
I have read the book as well and was moved by Don Piper’s struggle to cope with his injuries and to find his strength in Jesus Christ to continue his recovery. The book is availeble in the budding church library.
You’re right. The book may be borrowed from the office.
I have not read the book and have no intention to, but I can tell you that Star Wars: Heir to the Empire is a real page turner.
I was just diagnosed with Chiari I malformation of the brain, pseudotumor cerebri and empty sella syndrome by a specialist. I am in constant pain. I flew to New York to see the neurosurgeon specialist who diagnosed me, two weeks ago. Right before that we had a ’secret sister’ exchange at my workplace (a consulting engineering firm – where I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to work fulltime – I have to lie down every lunchtime just to get the spinal fluid moving back to my brain to make it through the afternoons), and my secret sister gave me this book as one of my gifts. She doesn’t know me well, or the extent of pain I am in or that I was going to New York. I feel like God put this book into my hand just in time. Throughout the pain from pressure I experienced in flight to New York, and the time alone in the hotel waiting for my appointment, and dealing with my diagnosis the night after my appointment, I read this book by Don Piper. I felt that God had laid it in my hand, as Don, who continues to this day to experience continual pain, as I do, helped me. I cried as a result of finding another person who understood my chronic pain. Don taught me to accept a ‘new normal’ and to make a list of what I still can do, which surprisingly has really encouraged me! I know my condition could lead to paralysis or an earlier death. But it the book has helped me with my fear. I felt God’s Spirit touching me through every page of this book, and that it was the true telling of a real experience, matching what scripture has also told me when I have read it. I feel like I drew back closer to Jesus despite my constant pain because of Don sharing his experiences of dealing with the pain in his life.
This book is terrific
If u do not believe this well u will not believe anything
I think that is god’s way of giving
us knowledge of the future It is very difficult when a Mother looses her child as I have. My daughter went to heaven last summer
anf I miss her so much but it is great to know that she is in paradise. We should all want to live in heaven some day; as I know that I want to be there DAR
While God has given us a taste of what heaven is like through His word, to me, God provided us another account—Don’s account—for our benefit. As believers, especially as believers who have been separated from loved ones by death, we yearn for the day when we will spend eternity with those we love in the presence of God. I’m sorry Don had to go through what he did. However, there’s another part of me that’s so grateful he did! His experience is a grand reminder that this place is fleeting.
I was once watching a Warner Brothers cartoon with my young boy. The cartoon started out situated in prehistoric times with a caption that read: 10,000,000 years ago (that’s a really long time!). While that made me chuckle, it also brought to my mind the hymn “Amazing Grace.” One of the verses states: “When we’ve been there (in Heaven) ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise, than when we’d first begun.” The silly cartoon made me aware that I can replace that number (10,000) with as large a number as I can comprehend—like 10,000,000—and for those who have placed their faith in Jesus, we will still “…have no less days to sing God’s praise!” To focus on that fact, versus the brief temporary hassles we deal with here, gives us such comfort. This is NOT our home! Thanks to God for reminding us that fact, through Don’s story.
God is amazing and so loving to everyone. Don Piper is so lucky that he got to get a glimpse of heaven early. I can’t wait to get there!
If you believe this, you will believe anything. You all obviously have no knowledge of human brain functioning. When the body is shutting down, when the oxygen stops flowing the brain starts to shut off areas one at a time, until there is nothing left. At this point there is no chance of successful recovery. It is thought that when the body is going through this it produces pleasant images to ease the process. The man in question would have produced images of the “heaven” he had drilled into his mind at every occasion possible. Just as any other person of any other religion would have done. The mind (as many college students can tell you) can produce a wide range of hallucinations. Just because people can see things that their religion told them of, it doesn’t mean that it was real.
To the non-believer:
Why even question something that you don’t believe in? If you are not a believer in God then that is your choice but some of us are believers and we rejoice in hearing of such experiences as the one described in this book. I have “knowledge of human brain functioning” and I also have knowledge of a much Higher Being that dictates much more than science and theories. “If you believe this, you will believe anything” is a sure sign of a non-believer in anything because many scientific facts started out as mere theories and beliefs that were believed enough by someone or a group of people to further investigate and study. If this is not true, I would like to challenge you to read the book and give an explanation as to how he was “clinically dead” for over an hour and a half (with a tarp over him and unattended) but then didn’t suffer any brain damage. Also I would like to know how he is functioning now if there is, as you stated, “no chance of a successful recovery”. This book has been very uplifting, encouraging and inspiring for thousands of people. What do you do that has this kind of positive effect on people?
I am still reading the bood and have 22 pages left. I wish that everyone could read this book. I think it would bring many people to salvation. I am going to tell everyone that I know about this book. I think it is great,I am just sorry that Don had to suffer for us to find out more about Heaven.
“Why even question something you don’t believe in?”
Um, because it makes no sense. Because there are other, more reasonable explanations that don’t depend on an invisible father figure who lives “above” us, watches everything we do and loves each and every one of us more than anything but will surely condemn us to eternal suffering if we don’t follow his rules.
Now, I’m a very tolerant person an if this is what you want to believe, more power to you. But don’t push your beliefs on anyone else (including your children) and don’t condemn others who don’t believe.
Learn and practice and *teach* tolerance and the world will be a better place for all of us.
Why must one have Jesus to get into heaven? Isn’t God enough? I’m a believer in the almighty, but as a Jew, I feel no need for an intermediary between me and God. The God of Abraham, The God of Isaac, The God of Jacob. Isn’t that enough? I am not saying this to offend anyone. I believe there is more than one path to God and Heaven. I certainly hope so, because about half of my very close friends are Christians, and I certainly would like to see them again when my time comes. I just can’t understand that anyone who believes in the God of the bible can believe that the keepers of Abraham’s Covenant, the followers of the laws and precepts God gave to Moses, would be excluded from Heaven? Shalom.
I had a intense dream one morning just before I woke up. In this dream I saw many people in a room. I was guided to a window and looked outside, I saw color and beauty but I was focused on a person getting out of a white Corvette (there were many white Corvettes)and I watched as he entered the building, after this I was allowed to wander on my own.
When I awoke I remembered everything vividly ( there is much more to the dream, too much to go on about know)and I had this feeling that today was to be the greatest day of my life, I thought I would “win the lottery for sure” or something great was to happen.
I found out two hours later that my Father had passed that night.
I miss my Father of course. But, I never feel sorrow because I know he is with my Mother and I will see him again.
One other note. If you are reading this webpage, no one is pushing Religion on you
Um, I went to college. That doesn’t mean that I know the brain’s exact process at death. I don’t know why my brain would send me “pretty pictures” to help me in the process. That’s a bunch of bull. Anyhooo I think we all have different religions and Christianity isn’t THE one. However, that is what I am. Either way I believe ther’s a heaven for everyone.
That’s all I’m saying. I’m hopeful there is a heaven for everyone, regardless of their religion. Just be a good person.
That’s all I’m saying. I’m hopeful there is a heaven for everyone, regardless of their religion. Just be a good person.
I’m sorry to tell you but there is only one way to heaven and its through Christ. The bible says the only way to the Father is through Son. My heart goes out to those who believe just by being good people they will get to heaven, that is not what the bible teaches. You must accept Christ and let him dwell in your hearts; you must live a life for Jesus. To minimize Christ is to blaspheme God. I am going to read this book.

I agree with u. i am muslim and we are all the same religon, which is the religon on abraham. people from all religons will be present in heaven.
u made a good point. I have not read the book and will not denounce it out of ignorance

I have a question for you.
If u have to accept jesus to go to heaven then how about the people who died b4 the Miracle birth? are they not going to be permitted in heaven?
also how about the people who in the wilderness and do good to all that comes across them and also have not been able to here the words of any religion? how about them? not from the people of today, im talking about people who lived 100, 200 years ago, before tech inventions? how about them?
i have to say that i believe in jesus but not as a god but someone who preached gods word and healed people with gods permission. a holy man and certainly a resident in heaven BUT NOT GOD!!!!!!!
there is one GOD and he does not need a SON or any help from anyone.
Aonymous and anyone else who is not sure. I used to be with you…until I simply picked up the Bible and actually took time to read it. If you really study the Torah and the Holy Bible, the Old Testament prophesis Christ’s coming over and over. Don’t trust me, see for yourself with an ope mind. Most people who are not sure what scripture says are people that haven’t even tried to take time to read that scary book…we can read Fortune, US News, etc, but for some reason, picking up the bible and blowing the dust off and actually reading it simply does not happen..interesting. Try it before you judge it. Thanks.
I read it. Jesus is fine for you, but he has absolutely nothing to do with true Judaism. He is not the messiah. He is not the son of God. He is not a recognized Jewish prophet. If you’re a Christian, he is your Messiah and your god. But as a Jew, he has been cut off from our tribe. God needs no son and needs no superhuman helper. The messiah is an outdated notion. No messiah will ever come. God is great enough, he has no need of a Messiah and certainly no one need believe in a superman to get into heaven. Grow up already.
I have to say that the anonymous person seems very bitter. I recommend he-she read The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. I am not saying it will make you believe but it will give you another point of view. The author was an atheist before he wrote his first book, The Case for Creation, which also an excellent read. I have read 90 minutes in heaven and really enjoyed it. I wish all believers and non-believers in God and Jesus would read it. Maybe you believe that the Bible and God and Jesus are just old stories, but what if they aren’t.
They aren’t just old stories. But God is God, and Jesus was JUST a man.
Remember, the “Bible” as you refer to it as, is the “Bible” of the Christians. Other religions have their own holy books, some of which pre-date the Christian Bible by a long shot. Who says the Christian Bible is the correct Bible?
I’m a fairly recent Christian who used to be an atheist. I think these questions: Is there a God? Which religion is correct? Is there a heaven and who gets to go there? etc are very complex and difficult. In fact, it seems like the closer you examine these questions the more questions you come up with. So, considering that they are not simple questions, I think people should be wary of simple, easy answers, especially if they are based on beliefs you’ve never really questioned. I’ve found, in talking to people with different beliefs, that I am often much more biased than I had realized.
Dear Anonymous,
I mean no disrespect, but I am curious to know what has lead you to the conclusion that Jesus was just a man?
And it is so good to know that a little book by Don Piper can bring about so many great theological discussions and points of view!
Praise God! I read all of the comments above… some from Christians, some from atheists, some from jews, muslims.. we all have our opinion. But I believe the Bible, and I know it’s true. And the Bible says there IS a Jesus. There IS a Heaven. There IS a God. If you accept Christ you will get to heaven. I KNOW this because of faith, but not just that. I KNOW because God showed me. And many others…it’s very hard to believe, but I just KNOW. And if I didn’t know for sure, I defentaly would not be a Christian. But peaise God… I would love to read this book.
praise God!! But not praise Jesus. Jesus is not God. Jesus is not a god. Jesus was a Jew, who most certainly would be upset knowing that people are worshipping him as a deity. He may have been a good man, but he was not and is not God. And to say that you need to believe in Jesus to get into heaven is as ridiculous as it sounds.
My prayer is that everyone who reads this book will be blessed in some way. John 3:16
I wonder why this very angry “anonymous” person has even been reading and responding to the Christian coments for such a LONG time if he in fact was as sure of what he beleaves as he says.If you are not interested in knowing the TRUTH (JESUS)!then why do you keep returning?
I don’t think all the posts are from the same anonymous. But I do agree with some of what has been said. Jesus may be your “truth”, but he is not the “truth” for everyone. To say that Jesus is THE truth makes you sound culturally and religiously arrogant and ignorant. I know that my religion is the “truth” for me because it helps me to worship God according the the “truth” of my gospel, the Torah. But I would not be so arrogant as to say that is the only way to God, but it is the foundation on which most Jews base their relationship to the almighty. I don’t ask Christians to accept my beliefs, nor do I think it is necessary for them to as a prerequisites for getting into heaven or having a relationship with God. But to say that Jesus is the only way to God is a ridiculous statement. Does that mean that during world war 2, when 6 million jews were slaughtered in a mainly christian Europe, those individuals went to their deaths, and go to hell (including millions of children), because they worshipped God as Jews, but their persecutors, many of which were Christians, get a pass and go to heaven as long as they atone and confess their sins and believe in Jesus. I don’t know about anyone else, but if hell is filled with dead, innocent children, and heaven is filled with many repentant Jesus worshipping, Jew killers, I’ll reserve my ticket to hell now. Hell, it would seems, would be the more righteous choice.
i haven’t read the book yet but i guess it sounds interesting and i am looking forward to read it. Hmmm i have been moved my the book “For one more day” by Mitch Albom and i really loved it.
Well i guess Jesus is one form of so called GOD. Relegion doesnt make a difference and what god u include in the book neither. Its just that GOD leads to religion and all religion leads us to the same path. One of those path is for us to help other (not only humans but animal and nature too).
(:
Greetings From NEPAL
Amen. No one path to God. There are multiple paths. Jesus is “A” way, not “THE” way.
I purchased the book a year before I read it. I just about lost my wife in a accident two years prior, I brought her back. A couple of years later her mother past away a co worker told me I should read it. This was the first book I had read in over 25 years it was well worth reading. Since then I have purchase over ten copies to give out to others read and then pass it on.
I am order ten more of the books today to give out.
If you don’t beleive in Jesus Christ as your Savior after reading this book, read 23 minute in hell you may change your opinion.
woww thats so nice of you
I was hoping if i can get one from you. i can give you my postal address
In Nepal earning isn’t much. and just today i bought a book “A thousand Splendid Suns” and have to wait for two more months to buy that book
also u know people who doesn’t believe in Christ doesn’t go to hell. Idont think going to hell and believing god exists is a good option, rather helping out and never seeking of rewards will make GOD much more happier than just thinking GOD saves us.
“Hand that helps are better than the lips that pray . . “
I believe in heaven, I believe in God, and I look forward to being reunited with my mother who has recently passed. I found the book inspirational for the most part. The part about Jesus I could have done without. If you need Jesus to save you, that’s fine. I think God is enough for me. God is my savior. God is my messiah. I have no problem with someone believing they need Jesus to get into heaven, but telling people that don’t believe in Jesus that they will go to hell is offensive and sounds like a throwback to the inquisition and the crusades. That certainly was not one of Christianity’s finer moments. Please leave that garbage in the past and respect people of other faiths. Heaven is not some country club with an exclusively christian membership, and if that’s what you believe, you are no better than a run of the mill racist biggot.
” I have no problem with someone believing they need Jesus to get into heaven, but telling people that don’t believe in Jesus that they will go to hell is offensive and sounds like a throwback to the inquisition and the crusades. “
+1 for this point
Jesus is the Son of God who died for our sins. He is not A GOD, He is THE GOD. The same God of Isaac, Moses, and Abraham. The bible says that he was “the fullness of God”. I know that in some Hebrew Scriptures that Isaiah 53 is excluded, and it skips from Isaiah 52 to Isaiah 54. I encourage everyone to read Isiah 53. It says “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all…But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants.”
No one except Jesus will ever be sinless. So how good is good enough to get into heaven? God is perfect and sinless. God has perfect justice and love. Because we are sinful, we cannot commune with a perfect god because out sin separates us from God. But because of God’s great love, he provided a way for us to have communion with him again. He sent his son, Jesus, not as just a teacher or prophet, but his very being, part of the trinity, to live a perfect life in place of us, and to die a sinner’s death in place of us, so that the righteousness of Jesus could be accredited to us. All of our sins are on the cross.
If you don’t know or don’t believe in the trinity, I would suggest reading The Gospel of John. The trinity is however talked of throughout the bible. Genesis 18 speaks of the LORD visiting Abraham in three persons. Abraham refers to them as the one unified LORD.
I pray that people will read this book and have a desire to read God’s word.
Susan,
Jesus was the son of God, just like I or you are children of God. No more, no less. According to the bible and Jesus’s own co-religionist, and by that I mean the Torah and the Jews, not the New Testament and the Christians, God is one. The most important prayer for all Jews, of which Jesus was one, “Hear oh Israel, The Lord our God, The Lord is One!!” Not a trinity. The New Testament is the Bible of the Christians. It is not recognized by me, and most certainly wouldn’t have been recognized by Jesus as “The Bible” because Jesus was Jewish. When you speak of the Bible, you speak of a book that was written by people after Jesus was killed. As far as the messiah goes, how do you figure Jesus was the messiah? Who was the messiah suppose to be and what was he suppose to accomplish? Was he suppose to be a godling or God in the flesh? Was he suppose to take away sins vicariously? Was he suppose to be killed because of all of mankind’s sins? Was he suppose to be a mediator between God and man?
No to all of those questions.
The messiah was to redeem Israel (as a people), and bring them back to their homeland. The messiah was to bring about peace and justice. And God does not take a “fleshy” form. For crying out loud, that’s one of the TEN COMMANDMENTS. To paraphrase, because I don’t have a bible in front of me right now: “Thou shall not make graven images unto me, of anything that flies in the sky, walks on the land or swims in the sea”. Worshipping God in the flesh is a blatant violation of the spirit and letter of “The Law”. Jesus accomplished none of what the messiah was to accomplish and was not recognized as the messiah by the vast majority of his own people during his lifetime. It started out as a small cult, that by an amazing set of historical circumstances, has become the world’s largest religion, thanks largely to Constantine. But that doesn’t mean it’s correct, just because it’s the biggest. If big was always right, then David would have been slain by Goliath
And, after all that I just wrote, I believe that Jesus is your messiah Susan, and the New Testament is your Bible. You are a Christian and as such that is fine. But to speak in Universal terms is a blatant twisting of historical facts and ignores religious diversity. As long as someone’s religion is not a threat to me or mine, I’m fine with it, as most people I hope would be. If someone’s religion preaches hate or is subversive to my community, then I have a problem with it.
With all that said, I apologize for rambling. I’ve got to go now, because the Jewish sabbath is about to begin and I will be going to synogogue (temple). For me, it’s the place to go, and I would not tell a non-Jew it’s the place for them to go.
Susan, I hope you have an inspirational service at your Church, which is not for me or my people, but is right for you and yours and that’s ok.
went to get the book but seems that it hasnt arrived in the market it
i guess i should wait now and stop posting ^^
I listened to it on a book and compact disc that I borrowed from the library. Check out your local library.
checked the library and bookstore and they told me it hasnt still arrived in the country ^^
I was brought up in a Baptist church in WV, and in my teen years and early 20’s kinda got away from church, but always believed in GOD. I got married 6 years ago and now have 2 beautiful daughters. Throughout all of my adult life it is a fact that my life has been much easier when I was going to church on a regular basis. Recently with all of the evil in the world I started trying to be a better Christian for myself, husband, and especially children. My husbands grandma died 2 years ago from lung cancer, she was Catholic. I missed her so much and wanted to see her or hear her voice so much. About 6 months after her death I had a dream about her and she looked exactly like herself, just so beautiful. I remember telling my husband, sister, mom, and close friends of my dream and especially about how pretty Lucy looked and how smooth her face was(no wrinkles). I had met her at her age of 72 and never seen her without wrinkles. I was confused about my dream(because of her perfect apperance), but after my dream I was somehow calmed about her passing. I don’t make the time to read and I honestly never buy books. About a month ago I had gotten so worked up over the evil in the world and the way things will be while my daughters are growing up. I prayed and prayed God Please Give Me Peace In My Heart… I opened my Bible for answers and one of the first verses I read talked about not being afraid when evil was near, just have faith and believe. Later that evening I went to the grocery store and for some unknown reason I bought 90 mins in Heaven and 23 mins in Hell. I read 105 pages of 90 mins in heaven that night (that is a miracle in itself), but when I read about Don seeing his grandma who was old wrinkled, and sick on earth with her smooth skin in heaven, this proweful feeling came over me. I know God made me get this book because I was in such need of answers and help to let me know.. believe heaven is real and oneday I will be in Heaven and I know I will see Grandma Lucy as I seen her in my dream. I understand it is hard to believe in something you can’t see, but the feelings in my heart from being a Christian take all doubts away. I sent this book to my grandma who is a Christian with final stages of breast cancer, and also grandma Lucy’s husband who is not a Christian.(I sent him a note and told him all about the dream I had long ago). After I read this book it seems like anyone I talk to brings this book up in conversation. I believe this is a great book for Christians, or non-believers. In this world today I think we should tell everyone we can about Jesus/God and not be ashamed to do so.
I think that this book is very important to all people whether they ar believers of Christ or not. If you are a “Christian”, but arent quite sure whether you are going to heavn or not, this book will probably inspire you to live a better Christian life and it will probably (hopefully) inspire you to be a stronger Christian. If you are a non-believer and you are confused about where you are headed in life and you realize that you can not find true happiness, you should read this book because it will leave you curious about heaven and wanting to experience this kind of awe and iridescence. That thirst and curiosity will probably lead you to become a Christian.
I am a thirteen year old boy that was confused about life but after reading this book, I got to thinking about whether or not I will make it to heaven and decided to set things right between Christ and myself. I do believe that this book is true and I want to strengthen my relationship with Jesus so that I too can one day experience this awesom glory. Hope to see you in heaven some day!
I WOULD LIKE TO START OFF BY SAYING GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU WHO BELIEVE IN HIM AND HAVE GIVEN YOUR HEART TO THE LORD, ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO MENTION THE FACT THAT THE BIBLE STATES “JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD!” YES CORRET HE IS NOT GOD BUT HE IS THE SON AND HE DIED A MOST EMBARRASING DEATH ON THE CROSS FOR EVERY ONE OF US, PLEASE DONT DENY THE LORD OUR SAVIOR, THERE IS A REASON YOU ARE ON THIS SITE GOD SENT YOU HERE. IN THE BIBLE IT SAYS THERE IS ONLY ONE PLACE THAT ALL NON-BELIEVERS GO, AND THAT IS HELL, I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU GO ON GOOGLE VIDEO AND TYPE IN “23 MINUTES IN HELL” OR GO TO A LIBRARY GET THE BOOK AND READ IT. (BY BILL WIESSE) THAT VIDEO/BOOK WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER, AFTER I READ IT I GOT ON MY KNEES AND I CRIED TO GOD, SO THAT HE SAVE ME FROM THAT PLACE! PLEASE DO NOT REPENT THE LORD! AFTER ALL HE DID DIE FOR EACH ONE OF US.
FRIEND IN JESUS
DEAR ANONYMOUS,
YOU SAY JESUS IS NOT “THE” WAY, HE IS “A” WAY? THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY AND IT IS THROUGH CHRIST THAT WE MAY GET GODS BLESSINGS AND HIS MERCY, AND THEN HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN WHEN JESUS HIMSELF SAID “I AM ‘THE’ WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE”?
I HAVE TO APOLIGIZE FOR SAYING NON-BELIEVERS GO TO HELL, PLEASE FORGIVE ME I SPOKE WITHOUT THINKING. GOD BLESS EACH ONE OF YOU.
I’m a believer. A believer in God. Jesus is “the way” for christians. To each their own. God is enough for Jesus’s co-religionists, the jews. Would you like it if jesus’s own people, the jews, said that christians are going to hell because they are christians. That would be wrong, as it is to say “non-believers” in jesus go to hell. it says nowhere in the bible that jesus is the son of God. The new testament is not “the” bible. It is the bible of christians, just as the Torah is the bible of the jews. Let each person find their own way to God and ultimately to heaven. Jesus is not “the way” for everyone.

When Jesus died on the cross the veil was lifted and all those who came before entered into heaven. After Adam and Eve were cast from the garden they were sentenced with death. Jesus came and allowed the gentiles to be saved if they followed his teachings. When Jesus was dead for 3 days he was teaching the same word in the underworld, where the dead had gone. They had just the same opportunity to follow him as the living. So yes, those before the birth and death of Christ were able to get to heaven. Of course they were, they followed his teachings. As for the people who may have not had the chance to hear the word, that is up to God. I believe that he has mercy and grace for all people. Only God can decide either way.
One argument I have understood about getting to heaven is the fact that not all roads lead to one destination. why would there be multiple ways or multiple right answers? there’s no foundation for this in every day life so why should there be for getting to heaven? If Jesus Christ is just a man and not the Son of God, then why did He claim to be? When the Pharisees asked Him if He was the Son of God, He replies, what you say is true, they knew He was claiming to be God, and it showed because they tore their robes and got very angry. The idea that He was just a teacher, a prophet or a good man, does not add up because He would have to be a false prophet because of His claim to be God, or He would have been a crazy guy. You cannot have both (good man and not God) because they cancel one another out. Also the idea that 12 men (the disciples) each lost their lives for sacrificing for the cause of Christ bears testimony that what they saw must have been true. What happened when Jesus initially died? They fled, they ran away, and they hid. Then when they saw His resurrected body, they laid their lives down for Him. Totally doing an about-face from their previous actions.
The absence of evidence, is not the same thing as the evidence of absence. Those on here that choose not to believe in a Heaven, a God, or a loving creator confuse me. When did you suddenly acquire all the answers to life?
